Connecting Japan and the World
through Kimono

On April 16, 2025 (Wednesday), YAMATO Co., Ltd. opened its very first permanent international store, KIMONO ARCH / Y. & SONS , in the vibrant core of the Marais district of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, France.
This marks our first permanent overseas location since our founding in 1917 .
Building on the experience gained through previous pop-up stores, the new store serves as a continuous and expansive platform to share the charm and potential of kimono with the world.
A fresh approach to kimono from Paris
In 2024, we held a pop-up store in the Marais district of Paris, where we had the opportunity to welcome guests from around 50 countries and regions, each with diverse cultural backgrounds. The warm reception we received gave us a gentle but meaningful sense that kimono could be embraced as a garment of the world. Encouraged by this experience, we have taken a small but hopeful step forward with the opening of a permanent store.
Through this new presence, we hope to continue engaging in cultural exchange—drawing inspiration from traditional garments and craftsmanship from around the world. With the kimono as our medium, we aim to quietly build bridges between Japan and the wider world.
